A Breakthrough in Pressure Generation by a Kawai-Type Multi-Anvil Apparatus with Tungsten Carbide Anvils Review

Takayuki Ishii, Zhaodong Liu, Tomoo Katsura

Engineering 2019, Volume 5, Issue 3,   Pages 434-440 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2019.01.013

Abstract:

Expansion of the pressure range of Kawai-type multi-anvil presses (KMAPs) with tungsten carbide (WC) anvils is called for, especially in the field of Earth science. However, no significant progress in pressure generation has been made for 40 years. Our recent studies have expanded the pressure generation of a KMAP with WC anvils to 65 GPa, which is the world record for high-pressure generation in this device and is more than 2.5 times higher than conventional pressure generation. We have also successfully generated pressures of about 50 GPa at high temperatures. This work reviews our recently developed technology for high-pressure generation. High-pressure generation at room temperature and at high temperature was attained by integration of the following techniques: ① a precisely aligned guide-block system, ② a high degree of hardness of the second-stage anvils, ③ tapering of the second-stage anvil faces, ④ a high-pressure cell consisting of materials with a high bulk modulus, and ⑤ high thermal insulation of the furnace. Our high-pressure technology will facilitate investigation of the phase stability and physical properties of materials under the conditions of the upper part of the lower mantle, and will permit the synthesis and characterization of novel materials.

Capacity Construction and Industrial Breakthrough of China’s First Domestic Cruise Ship

Yi Guowei, Chen Gang, Liu Pei, Feng Ni, Li Huajun

Strategic Study of CAE 2022, Volume 24, Issue 2,   Pages 113-122 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2022.02.005

Abstract:

The cruise industry is an important driving force for China’s economic supply-side reforms during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. The construction of a large cruise ship is a complex, customized, and giant project, and it is the only high-tech ship product that remains to be conquered in China. This study focuses on the final assembly construction and industrial development of domestic cruise ships and summarizes the final assembly practice of China’s first large cruise ship on the basis of studying the construction modes of European large cruise ships and considering the characteristics of Chinese ship construction. We summarize the frontier progress and engineering experiences of cruise construction from the aspects of overall layout, technical ability, supply chain capability, and key technologies; analyze the effects of management ability construction from the aspects of cruise project organization, project command, and technological and constructing features; and prospect the industry development directions for cruise ship building in terms of operating ability, production ability, service ability, and production–education–research integration. This study aims to establish a final assembly construction system of cruise ships with Chinese characteristics to ensure the high-quality construction and successful delivery of China’s first domestic cruise ship.

The geological recognition breakthrough in Liaodong zone, which leading to the discovery of the large

Deng Yunhua

Strategic Study of CAE 2011, Volume 13, Issue 10,   Pages 13-18

Abstract:

Liaodong zone includes eastern actic region of Liaozhong sag and Liaodong uplift, which is between Liaozhong sag and Liaodong sag with good condition of source rocks and favorable reservoir-seal assemblages in Dongying formation. Meanwhile, there are many fault blocks and nose-shaped structures. However, twelve wells were drilled during 15 years without any significant business discovery by foreign oil companies and domestic petroleum enterprises before 2002. Based on deep research of geological condition and analysis on dry wells again in Liaodong zone, we recognized that two main reservoir plays existed at Dongying and Shahejie formation. Moreover, the dominative factor for Dongying is migration and the one for Shahejie is reservoir. According to this guidance, such giant oilfield JX1-1 was discovered with 150 million reserves in the end through right research direction and favorable targets evaluation, which shows great importance of scientific research in oil and gas exploration.
